Berbice man nabbed in ganja field, another with cocaine

A 24-year-old cattle farmer was taken into Police custody after he was caught tending to several hundred cannabis plants on Saturday at Vryheid, West Canje, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).

Based on reports received, at about 15:00h on the day in question, Police ranks acting on information swooped down on a location at Vryheid, West Canje, Berbice, where the plants measuring between two and five feet in height were discovered. In addition, 6500 cannabis seedlings were also found and subsequently destroyed.
According to the police, the estimated street value of the cannabis plants is $5,824,000.00. The cattle farmer of High Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, is being processed for court.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Police ranks acting on intelligence arrested a 27-year-old unemployed resident of Adelphi Village, East Canje and Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice, after he was found to be in possession of 27 grams of cocaine. He is being processed for court as Police continue their investigations.
