The Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) “Geo City” Regional championship continued on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) with contrasting wins for the Bishops’ High School (BHS), Queen’s College and Tutorial High School.
In the opening encounter, BHS blew away School of the Nations by 60 points, registering a lopsided 74-14 victory powered by a Player-of-the-Game performance from Kemol Pickering. He sank 24 points and grabbed 18 rebounds and was well supported by Eli Archer (21 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals) and Malique Williams (13 points, 5 rebounds). For the losers, Hong Yang had five points and five rebounds.

While BHS’ victory was thoroughly one-sided, Tutorial High turned in a gritty shift in the second game to subdue a feisty St Stanislaus College team to a 36-23 loss.
Tutorial’s effort was led by Julian Charles, who managed 20 points and three steals while Keion Lynch provided much-needed backup with 12 points, four rebounds, and four steals of his own.
The closing contest, like the opener, was one-sided as QC marched to a 41-20 win over Marian Academy.
It was a total team effort as Lemuel Wilson (12 points, 6 rebounds); Antoine Liverpool (10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals); Anfernee Cummings (8 points, 6 rebounds) and Dimitri Singh (6 points, 8 rebounds) combined to good effect.
On the losing side, Lucas Pinol added some respectability to the scoreline, with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Regionals, which will continue over the coming weeks, are sponsored by Edward B Beharry Ltd, G-Boats Inc, National Sports Commission, Ministry of Education, and Banks DIH Ltd.
