The Sherwin Williams Second-Division T20 Cup continued with two matches over the weekend, as the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Police Sports Club (PSC) registered convincing victories at separate venues.
At the Everest Sports Club Ground, Eldorado Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bowl against the GDF team. Batting first, GDF posted a competitive 167 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Nigel Deodat led the scoring with a brisk 49 from 30 balls, striking four fours and two sixes. Leon Andrews contributed 22, while Shamal Angel added 20 and Neil Persaud chipped in with 18 to ensure steady momentum through the innings. For Eldorado, Anand Bharat and Owen Andrews claimed two wickets each to keep the total within reach.

In reply, Eldorado’s chase never gained traction as GDF’s spin duo took control. Andrews returned figures of 4 for 20, while Deodat capped a fine all-round performance with 5 for 14. Eldorado were bowled out for 85 in 13 overs, with Quazim Yusuf top-scoring with 25. GDF secured victory by 82 runs.
Meanwhile, at the PSC Ground, Sophia won the toss and chose to bat against the home side. Sophia posted 143 for 6 in their 20 overs, anchored by Dwayne Peters who struck 60 from 47 deliveries, including four fours and three sixes. Terrance Decuna supported with 28. Titus Webster delivered an economical spell of 2 for 14, while Mark Jeffers, Euan Blair, and Damuka Ngqondon picked up one wicket each.
PSC responded positively in their chase. Pernell London played a decisive innings of 63 from 33 balls, hitting six fours and four sixes to set the tone. Dwanye Dick added 24 from 13 deliveries, and Mark Jeffers contributed 13 as the target of 144 was reached in 14.2 overs for the loss of five wickets.
The results leave both GDF and PSC with valuable wins as the competition progresses, while Eldorado and Sophia will look to regroup in their upcoming fixtures.
