BIT extends training opportunities to Aishalton youths
Eleven persons from Aishalton in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) recently graduated from the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) after completing training in plumbing.

“You are not just graduates; you are now leaders. I personally challenge you to be energetic in your job, in your families and your communities, to make your village and country the best place it can be,” Greene added.
She noted that the implementation of the various programmes which have been conducted by BIT could not be underestimated, as not only the individuals have benefited but the entire family unit. “Each of you is now a role model to your community,” said Greene.
She charged the graduates to keep working to reach the top of the ladder of success.
“Graduates, my charge to you today is to exhibit good character as you scale the ladder of success. The sky is the limit for your potential in achieving a brilliant future,” Greene further explained.
Aishalton’s Toshao, Douglas Casimero expressed gratitude for the Government’s commitment in empowering the youths, and said the village was proud of their accomplishment.
“We are all proud of you as we are here to witness your graduating ceremony. As I would have said earlier, we are very pleased for the partnership between the Government of Guyana and the Village Council of Aishalton with special focus on youth empowerment. And this I would like to stress and emphasise is something we welcome with open arms,” Casimero was quoted as saying by the Government Information Agency (GINA).
BIT has trained more than 1600 youths in the areas of engineering and building (masonry and carpentry); information and communication technology; forestry; home economics and health services.
