Blazing action expected today at South Dakota

“We are going to remain on top!” – Team Mohamed’s

Speedsters from Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname have thrown down the gauntlet on Guyana’s premier drag racing group, Team Mohamed’s Enterprise, ahead of Sunday’s “King of the Strip” 2 drag racing meet organised by the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC).
Four cars and two bikes from the twin-island republic will be in contention for top honours, while eight cars from Suriname are intent on making their presence unforgettable.

One of the cars from Trinidad is a rail car owned and piloted by Andy Bissessar, and this purpose-built drag car has the ability to achieve sub 10-second times quite easily. In December 2016, at the Wallerfield Raceway in Trinidad and Tobago, Bissessar rocketed his way to a new track record of 7.29s at 180.57mph!
Team Mohamed’s, known more for action than talk, told this publication on Saturday through their Principal, Azurddin: “We have two of the best and fastest machines, and we intend on remaining unbeaten at South Dakota. And, most importantly, we intend to give our fans something to remember! Let’s hope the weather stays perfect”.
His confidence stems from Team Mohamed’s owning the unlimited category (7-seconds) as one of their two Nissan GT-Rs has a record time of 7.569s, while their Nismo has a time of 8.906s.
These vehicles have been frequenting the track over the past couple of days, and the mechanical team has been ensuring they are fully prepared for the stern test that awaits.
GMR&SC President Ramez Mohamed has meanwhile explained that all systems are in order, and the track will be ready for increased activity. He also explained that the Trinidadians would have brought some materials to further bolster the track’s preparation.
The event is sponsored by Tropical Shipping, JAPARTS, Mohamed’s Enterprise and ANSA McAL, BM Soat, Trans-Pacific Motor Sales and Spares, Prem’s Electrical, E-Networks and DEL Ice Co and Crystal Ice House. Tickets are being sold at $1000 for adults and $500 for children. Action time is 09:00h.
