The body of an unidentified man was found floating in a trench at Tarla Dam, Met en Meerzorg, West Coast Demerara, on Monday morning.
According to information reaching Guyana Times, at around 08:10h, two children on their way to school made the gruesome discovery, and subsequently told their mother.
The man appears to be in his mid-thirties and is of Indian decent, and was clad in a black long pants and a white vest; he was also wearing a silver chain. There were visible scars on the man’s face and chest, as such, investigators have not ruled out foul play. Investigators also revealed to this publication that the man seems to have been in the trench for almost a day.
Divisonal Commander of Division D (West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo), Leslie James told Guyana Times that no one has yet come forward to identify the body. Investigations into the discovery are ongoing.
