Brazilians arrested for smuggling ganja

Two Brazilian men are in Police custody after ranks in F Division (Lethem and Interior Locations) unearthed a quantity of cannabis hidden in the vehicle in which they were travelling.

The discovery was made in the vicinity of the Takutu Bridge in Lethem, which links Guyana and Brazil.
According to reports, the Police, after receiving certain information, stopped the vehicle in the vicinity of the Bridge and carried out a search. A parcel containing 103 grams of compressed cannabis was subsequently found hidden in the left door compartment of the vehicle.
The two occupants, the 51-year-old driver and a 31-year-old mechanic, were both arrested and were being processed for court. They are expected to be arraigned some time today.
