Budhram urges young cricketers to balance sport, education

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) Ravindradat Budhram has encouraged young cricketers competing in the Transport Developmental League to give equal attention to their education and sporting ambitions.
Budhram delivered the message during a visit to the Transport General Sports Club at Thomas Lands on Wednesday, where he interacted with players participating in the youth competition.

He told the cricketers that academic achievement is an important part of their overall development and future success. While encouraging them to pursue excellence in cricket, Budhram reminded the players that their education should remain a priority.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed that natural ability alone is not enough to achieve lasting success. He highlighted discipline, confidentiality and professionalism as important qualities that young people should develop.
Budhram urged the players to behave responsibly both on and off the field, show respect when interacting with others, and pay close attention to their appearance and dress.
Officer-in-Charge of the Community Relations Department, Superintendent Leslyn Smith, also spoke to the players about maintaining a healthy balance between sport and academics.
Smith noted that cricket is more than a game, explaining that it can help young people develop discipline, teamwork, a strong work ethic and healthy lifestyles.
The Transport Developmental League gives young cricketers from participating clubs an opportunity to improve their skills while allowing promising players to be identified and nurtured.
The session was organised by the head of the Transport General Sports Club, Shaun Massiah, and club manager Charles Greaves.
