Caesar returns as GAPLF boss, Taharally elected Vice President

Ed Caesar was returned unopposed for the third consecutive year as President of the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) when the body held its AGM on Saturday in the auditorium of the Kuru Kuru Co-operative College, D’Urban Backlands Georgetown.
Also re-elected was General Secretary, Andrea Smith, Andrew Austin (Treasurer) and Committee Member, Earwyn Smith.
According to a press release, the changes include: Nadina Taharally replacing Gordon Spencer as Vice President and Osmond Mack being replaced by Runita White as PRO/Organizing Secretary.

Spencer and Mack did not seek re-election.
The two new Committee Members include: Martin Webster and David Gomes.
Meanwhile, in Caesar’s Presidential address, he urged all in attendance to observe fairness, transparency, and utmost accountability in promoting and participating in the sport. He spoke encouragingly of the federation’s now proactive stance on all matters anti- doping and urges all athletes to become acutely aware of all that is require of them. The highlight of the AGM was the final ratification of the federation’s constitution.
In presenting its proposed calendar for the year 2018, the federation is off to an efficient start with the hosting of the Novices/ Juniors Powerlifting Championship on Sunday February 4 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Weigh- in begins at 07:00h and lifting starts at 09:00h (for Flight A). Admission remains $500.
