A teenager is in custody assisting with the investigation into the death of a pedal cyclist, who was struck down on the Corentyne Highway, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Dead: Lalta Jagmohan
The dead man has been identified as Lalta Jagmohan, also called “Puta Low”, 30, a cane cutter of Sand Reef, Albion.
The accident occurred at Nigg Village about 19:10h on Tuesday.
According to the Police, motor car PRR 9091, driven by a teenager of Fyrish, Corentyne, was proceeding east along the northern driveway when the cyclist, who was also proceeding in the same direction, but on the southern side of the road, allegedly rode from south to north into the path of the vehicle.
After the resultant collision, the injured man was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the Police, the driver who passed a breathalyser test is in custody assisting with the investigation.

Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination conducted on the body on Wednesday gave the cause of death as a fractured skull and brain haemorrhage.
Guyana Times understands that Jagmohan and his wife separated about three weeks ago. Since then the cane harvester had been receiving his meals from an aunt, who lives in the same village.
According to his cousin Vanie, on Tuesday, Jagmohan came and asked her mother for some food. She said after he ate, he left.
She said about 15 minutes later, they received a telephone call stating that he might have been involved in an accident. She said the pictures were posted on social media which prompted her parents to go to the Corentyne Highway.
According to Vanie, Jagmohan was at the Port Mourant Hospital when her parents arrived. She said the Police informed them that Jagmohan was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Hospital. (Andrew Carmichael)
