The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) has seized a quantity of foreign marijuana weighing just under 11 kilograms following an operation at Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.
According to CANU, officers acting on intelligence received carried out the operation on Saturday during which they intercepted a motor vehicle in the area.
A search of the vehicle uncovered ten brick-like parcels containing the suspected narcotic.
Two men, a 25-year-old of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, and 22-year-old, were arrested.
The men were escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the narcotics, which were weighed and found to be 10.992 kilograms. CANU said investigations into the matter are continuing.
