Capital FC stun Eagles United as Botofago advance

Capital FC produced one of the biggest upsets of the 2026 Summer Super Cup, defeating tournament favourites Eagles United 2-1, while Botofago FC advanced to the semi-finals with a convincing 2-0 victory over Aroaima United as the first two quarter-finals were decided at the Bayroc National Stadium.
Capital FC entered their quarter-final against a highly-regarded Eagles United side, and produced a memorable performance.
The underdogs delivered a disciplined and determined performance to secure a statement 2-1 victory and book their place in the final four.
Capital FC held a 2-0 advantage at halftime thanks to Denzil Fordyce before completing the upset after the interval. Eagles United managed to get on the scoresheet as Nicholas Gentle scored in the 47th minute , but Capital FC maintained their composure to protect their advantage and send the tournament favourites crashing out.
The result represents a significant achievement for Capital FC, who demonstrated that pedigree and experience alone would not be enough to guarantee progress in the knockout stages.

In the other quarter-final, Botofago FC produced a commanding first-half performance to defeat Aroaima United 2-0.
Botofago wasted little time asserting themselves, with Mark Malique Denniston breaking the deadlock in the third minute.
The advantage was doubled 33 minutes later when Samuel Haynes found the back of the net in the 36th minute, giving Botofago a comfortable 2-0 lead at the interval.
Aroaima United attempted to mount a comeback after the restart, but Botofago remained organised and defended their advantage to secure a clean-sheet victory.
The two results have set the tone for an exciting knockout phase, with Capital FC and Botofago FC securing their places in the Summer Super Cup semi-finals as the battle for the tournament’s lucrative prize purse continues.
