Car hijacked by gun-toting bandits found in Eccles

A hire car that was on Tuesday hijacked by two gun- toting bandits from “Buzz Bee Dam”, Craig village, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was recovered at Eccles Housing Scheme, EBD on Wednesday morning.

According to the owner of the vehicle, who is an employee of Diamond Cabs on the EBD, he was at work when the base received a call to make a pick up at the head of 14th Street Diamond, at about 19:00h on Monday. He related that when he arrived at the head of the street, he saw two men waiting.
“They left a contact number, and when I reach there, I stopped for them and I blow… before they entered the vehicle, they asked me how much to go to Buzz Bee Dam, I told them $600. They said alright, and one jump in the front one, jump in the back”, he explained.
The owner of the motorcar – HD 1318 – said the ‘passengers’ told him that they were going to the last chicken farm at Buzz Bee Dam. He said when he arrived at the location, the suspect sitting in the front passenger seat of the car place the car in park, while the other placed a gun to his head.
“When the one at the back placed the gun to my head, the one at the front come around and take off my rings, take my phones. They tried to pull my chain, but it didn’t burst, they push me out the car, and by the time I could have run and call for help, they done gone,” the man related.
The driver further explained that it was extremely dark, and he could not see which direction the men turned with the vehicle. He said it was only a few days ago that he placed the car in hire, due to the COVID-19 situation and the struggle to find a job.
On Wednesday, when the car was spotted in Eccles, the Police were summoned. The investigation is ongoing. (G9)
