Caribbean Boxing Championships…T&T pugilists added to competitive card

Trinidad and Tobago will be represented by two promising amateur boxers when the Caribbean Boxing Championships return to Guyana for the second staging of the regional competition on Saturday, September 12, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH), Homestretch Avenue.
Shastri Ramsanahie and Kozo Martin are set to add a Trinidadian presence to an increasingly-competitive regional card, with both boxers facing Guyanese opposition as the Caribbean Boxing Organisation (CBO) continues its push to strengthen boxing across the Region.
According to the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), Ramsanahie will square off against Guyanese rising star Ryan Rogers, who recently captured a gold medal at the Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors Boxing Championships.
Martin, meanwhile, will face another Guyanese prospect in Jofes Jackson, creating two intriguing regional match-ups on an amateur programme designed to give emerging fighters valuable exposure and experience.
GBA President Steve Ninvalle said the Association remained committed to developing young talent by providing opportunities for them to compete against quality opposition.

Ninvalle said the GBA will continue to utilise the professional-amateur cards organised by the CBO as an important platform for testing its best local boxers against some of the Region’s leading fighters.
Guyana hosted the inaugural Caribbean Boxing Championships in January, with the event providing amateur and professional pugilists with an opportunity to showcase their skills while gaining valuable experience on the regional stage.
The second edition promises another diverse night of boxing, with two championship belts up for grabs. In addition to the Caribbean Championship belt, organisers will introduce a Celebrity Belt, expected to add an element of entertainment and fun to the evening.
Several of Guyana’s leading boxers are expected to feature, including Kevin Isaacs, Joel Williamson, Jamal Eastman, James Moore, Laured Stewart, Richard Howard Jr, and Stepton Barton.
They will share the card with fighters from Venezuela, Jamaica, Grenada, Barbados, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago, giving the championship a truly regional flavour.
