Caribbean Cricket Club, Invaders Masters advance to final in ESCL tourney

Caribbean Cricket Club (CCC) and Invaders Masters are the two finalists for the 2021 inaugural Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ESCL) over-40 20-over competition.

The championship game is set for November 21 at Reliance ground on the Essequibo Coast.
In the semi-final matches, played last Sunday at Zorg Beach, CCC beat Ravens Sports Club (RSC) by 46 runs, while Invaders got the better of Sunrisers by four wickets.
CCC made 193 all out in their 20 overs, while RSC replied with 147 all out in the penultimate over. Skipper Naresh Narine led the way for CCC with 63, and got good support from Eshwar Singh, who made 58. Daniel Bholo captured three wickets for 12 runs from his four overs, and Glendon Smith captured two for 39 off four overs.
When RSC batted, no one made an impression with the bat. Yaseer Mohammed grabbed three wickets for 22 runs from his four overs, and Skipper Narine returned with the ball to prove his all-round capability by taking three wickets while conceding 23 runs off his four-over outing.
Sunrisers posted a challenging total of 204-8 off their overs, while Invaders, responding, surpassed the target with six balls to spare.
Fazeer Khan hit an impressive 70 to lead Invaders, and received solid support from Patrick Rooplall, who scored 51.
Shivsankar Bissoon snatched three wickets for 36 runs from his four overs.
In Sunrisers’ innings, former senior Essequibo Inter-County batsman Ravi Beharry slammed 68, and Bissoon chipped in with 63. Gopaul Deen took two for 31 from his maximum four overs.
