A delegation from the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) conducted an official knowledge exchange visit to key European judicial institutions from April 27 to 30, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen court administration and jurisprudence.
The visit included engagements with the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in Luxembourg, as well as the European Court of Human Rights and the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France. It focused on high-level judicial dialogue and the exchange of best practices. A release from the CCJ on Monday said that the delegation was led by CCJ President, Winston Anderson, and included members of the Court’s bench and senior officers. Discussions covered court governance, judicial administration, case management and jurisprudential development.

In Luxembourg, the delegation met with Koen Lenaerts and Marc van der Woude. They also observed court proceedings and administrative operations, including sessions with the court’s communications, library, and information technology directorates. In Strasbourg, the delegation held meetings with Arnfinn Bårdsen and Alain Berset. These discussions addressed judicial independence, regional integration, and the role of courts in promoting democracy, the rule of law, and fundamental rights. The visit was funded through a grant from the European Union (EU) under the 11th European Development Fund, supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening judicial cooperation and the rule of law in the Caribbean.
