CC&PA officers, Police among 5 injured in Port Kaituma accident

Two officers attached to the Child Care and Protection Agency (CC&PA) and a female Constable of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are among five persons injured after the car in which they were travelling crashed at 10 Miles Access Road, Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD).
The injured CC&PA officers are Bibi Samad, 59, of Oronoque, Port Kaituma, and Merlene Williams, 29, of Cat Walk, Port Kaituma. The injured woman constable was identified as 28-year-old Keisha Newton, also of Port Kaituma.
The others are the driver, 28-year-old Daniel Da Silva of Citrus Grove, Port Kaituma and 18-year-old Samya Goodman of Water Front, Port Kaituma.
According to information received, on the day in question about 20:30h a motor car bearing registration number PRR 5084 was proceeding along the 10 Miles Access Road, Port Kaituma, at a fast pace and while the driver was negotiating a left turn, he hit a slush puddle and lost control.
As a result, the car collided with a baranka and turned onto its side, causing the occupants to receive injuries about their bodies.
They were pulled from the wreckage and taken to the Port Kaituma District Hospital, where they were treated. Constable Newton, who suffered injury to the left hip, left arm and head, and Samad, who suffered injury to the left hip, were admitted for observation in the female surgical ward.
The others were sent away. An investigation has been launched into the accident.
