Central Shotokan Karate-do Association holds successful exam

The Central Shotokan Karate-do Association on Saturday successfully held its examinations under the watchful eyes of Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai and instructor Eric Hing at the Georgetown Cricket Club’s Pavillion.

The students, 27 in total, were graded beginning with 10th kyu (white belt) and concluding with 3rd kyu (1st brown belt).

The white belts, who were graded for their yellow belts (10th kyu-8th kyu), were Abhinav Boodhoo, Jeremiah Low, Latalya Norton, Talesh Sukhram, Tristen Sukhram, and Mia Ritchie (who skipped from white to orange-7th kyu).

Those who moved from white with yellow stripe to orange (9th kyu–7th kyu) were Keron Prescod, Sagara Dindyal and Zane Baldeo. The yellow belts who were graded for orange (7th kyu-6th kyu) were Akwone Caesar Che Talbot, Daniel Cameron, Reilon Smith and Savitha Singh.

Aniyah Couchman, Ayden Doris, Dwayne Tim, Kyle Couchman, Mordecai Rutherford and Shane Sargeant moved from orange to green belts (7th kyu – 6th kyu), while Darius Rodney and Sadiah Bradford moved from green to blue belts (6th kyu -5th kyu).

Moving from blue to purple belts (5th kyu – 4th kyu) were: Cayla Richards and Ruel Norton; purple to brown belt (4th kyu – 3rd kyu) was Mekhai Ritchie; and brown belts moving up a level (3rd kyu – 2nd kyu) were Daniel Hing and Jayz Halley.

The association would like to express special thanks to all the parents, family and friends who supported and gave assistance during the examinations. “We look forward to your continuous support,” the association said in a release.

Meanwhile, during the course of the week Master Frank Woon-A-Tai will be conducting instructors seminars at the Guyana Karate College and the YMCA dojos for all instructors who are IKD (International Karate Daigaku) members.

The Central Shotokan Karate-do Association would like to invite corporate Guyana to become a sponsor for the upcoming tournament to be held in May. The association is also inviting persons to register and become a member as the acceptance age is from three years old.
