CG United Regional Super50: Young optimistic after dominant win over GHE

In a thrilling encounter, the West Indies Academy team led by their captain, Nyeem Young, secured a convincing 92-run victory over the Guyana Harpy Eagles, further advancing their position in the race for a spot in the semifinals of the CG United Regional Super50.
With key contributions from several players, the Academy team showcased their talent both with the bat and the ball.
Matthew Forde displayed his prowess with the bat, scoring a solid 52 runs from 55 balls, while Teddy Bishop provided valuable support with 48 runs. Young himself contributed to the team’s total with a commendable 42 runs.
With the ball, Ackeem Auguste emerged as a hero, taking four wickets for 47 runs, and Nuremberg Young also made a significant impact by claiming three crucial wickets for just 18 runs.
Following the impressive win, Young expressed his satisfaction, saying, “I am happy to get over the line. Guyana and us are tied on the same points, so coming towards the end, it takes us higher on the table with some valuable points.”
Young went on to praise the performances of his teammates, highlighting Matthew Forde’s batting display and Joshua’s vital contributions with the bat. He also acknowledged the remarkable bowling performances of Matthew and Ackeem, emphasizing their crucial wickets in the middle overs.
With their sights set on the upcoming match against the Windward Islands Volcanoes, Young emphasized the importance of securing another victory to ensure their place in the semifinals. “There is a next game against Windwards, and we need to play that and win it to ensure that we do qualify into the semi-finals, but I am looking forward to it, and I know the team is very excited and up for it,” he remarked.
