Chainsaw operator dies in freak accident

Indonesian national Daniel Sambara who was on Friday operating a chainsaw in the Demerara River area of Mabura Hill in Region 10 is now dead after a freak accident.
Guyana Times was told that the 45-year-old man lost his life at about 09:00 on Friday at West Kruruabaru Backdam, Demerara River.
A block inspector in the area reportedly told Police that the now dead man had chopped down a tree, but was struck on his head by the root of another tree which had become uprooted by the one he had cut down.
According to the Police, Sambara sustained a broken leg in addition to the injury to his head. He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Parlour in Georgetown awaiting a post mortem examination (PME). Investigations are continuing.
