Drinking spree turns deadly: Labourer stabbed to death

A drinking spree ended in murder at Glen Nors, Lower Pomeroon River, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
Dead is 48-year-old Michael Chu called “Chuman” of Charity Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast.
Reports are Chu and another labourer, a 28-year-old resident of Grant Melville, Lower Pomeroon River, were on a drinking spree at about 12:00h on Saturday when a heated argument ensued. Reports are that the younger labourer, in the midst of the argument, armed himself with a knife and stabbed Chu several times.
During the incident, a Coast Guard Officer responded to a request for assistance and Chu was transported to the Charity Hospital where he was admitted. However, because of the extent of his injuries, he was transferred to the Suddie Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 17:58h on Saturday.
The 28-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested and is said to be assisting with the investigation.
