One day after Police issued a wanted bulletin for murder suspect Alex Nedd, he turned himself in at the Ruimveldt Police Station in the company of his lawyer.
Nedd was wanted for questioning in relation to the death of Rodwell Phillips, whose body was found with several chop wounds along the La Penitence Public Road, Georgetown.
According to Police, Nedd gave a written statement to ranks in the presence of his Attorney admitting to killing Phillips.
On Monday, a blood-stained cutlass was found next to Phillips’s motionless body. A chop wound was also seen in the centre of his chest, on the right side of his face, on the left side of his back, and on his left foot. Phillips was pronounced dead on the scene and his body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home to await a post-mortem. According to the dead man’s relatives, he was chopped to death by a man, and there were several eyewitnesses to the crime.
In fact, the Police related that they questioned several persons and were yet to review the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage.
Guyana Times was later informed that Phillips and the suspect were involved in a heated argument sometime back and this might have led to a scuffle. It is believed that Phillips’s death is connected to the old grievance.
Since the murder, Police had been looking for Nedd.
Phillips leaves to mourn his two young sons, parents, and siblings. The family continues to call for justice for the man’s brutal death.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Police said that a post mortem-examination was conducted on the 33-year-old man’s body by pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh, who gave the cause of death as stab wound to the heart.
The body has since been handed over to the relatives for cremation.
