Two-time defending champions Chase Academic Foundation will face Morgan’s Learning Centre (MLC) in Sunday’s Petra Organised, Milo Sponsored School’s under-18 Football Championships at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.
The finalists reached the final as a result of battling wins in the semi-finals on Wednesday at the same venue.
Job Caesar’s spectacular brace led Chase to a 2-0 victory over Sir Leon’s Lesson
while MLC beat Masters Academy 2-1.
For the defending champs, Cesar etched his name on the score sheet in the 67th minute with a powerful right foot on the outskirts of the penalty area which flew into the top-right.
The talented mid-fielder then added another in similar fashion on the left side in the 90+1 on the to seal the hard fought victory.
Their opponents in the final, won their match 2-1 against Masters Academy as for MLC, the heroes were Daniel Floyd in the 18th and Chris Macey in the 49th; Mario Eastman gave his team a consolation goal, netting in the 80th minute.
The third place play-off between Masters Academy and Sir Leon will commence at 17:00 hrs followed by the final at 19:00 hrs.
Teams are battling for the $500,000 first prize on offer, while the second, third and fourth place finishers will pocket $300,000; $200,000 and $100,000 respectively – money that will go towards a school project.
The tournament is also sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health under the Theme “Stop the Violence.”
