For the first time, the Chutney Monarch Competition will be held simultaneously with a duck curry competition. This double-fun event is billed for the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground, Essequibo Coast on Sunday.
The duck curry competition is expected to be done earlier in the day and as night falls, the Chutney competition will take centre state.
The first place winner in the duck curry competition will walk away with $200,000 while the second place winner will cart off $100,000 and the third place winner will take home $50,000. As usual, the meat will me marinated at home and the cooking will be done at the ground. The judging will take place after.
However, while the duck curry is being cooked, the stage will be set for the showdown of the chutney artistes. Those who made it the final are Chandrapaul Nathoo; Steven Ramphal; Chris Ramphall; Amrita; Nishal B; Prince HTN; Arijit; Entertainer V; Pooran Seeraj and the reigning Chutney Monarch, Bunty Singh.
The artistes would have impressed the judges at the Rosignol Stelling Road on Sunday evening last as the semifinal was held. After the semis, the finalists were announced. It is expected that the artistes will come with their ‘A Game’ but at the same time, the reigning Chutney King will do what it takes to defend his title.
