Home News Cleaner remanded on B&E charge
Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on Tuesday deferred the sentencing of a cleaner who admitted to a breaking and entering charge.
Victor Munian, a cleaner of Campbellville, Georgetown, admitted that on February 1, at Sheriff Street, Georgetown, he broke and entered the food shop of Deon Dudnaught and stole two gas bottles valued $23,000, a quantity of foodstuff valued $35,000 and $9000 cash.
Police Prosecutor Quinn Harris informed the court that the Virtual Complainant and Munian are known to each other since the VC would normally give him food.
The court heard that on February 1, at about 16:30h, the VC secured the shop and went home, however, upon return the following day, he noticed the shop was broken into and discovered the items missing.
The matter was then reported to the police and ranks, upon viewing CCTV footage, saw Munian entering the building through the chimney and leaving with the articles.
Munian, in a plea of mitigation, said, “I had access to the building and he owed me money so I do what I had to do. I am sorry”. He will reappear at Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts today for sentencing.
