Clerk of the National Assembly, Sherlock Isaacs, AA, has embarked on an outreach programme to visit and check on the welfare of former Members of the National Assembly of the Parliament.
The National Assembly in a social media post stated that the Clerk of the National Assembly, in a comment, said that the many years of service by the former members should not go unrecognised and that someone should recognise and thank them for their dedicated service to the nation.
According to the social media post, the clerk also mentioned that this was a way of checking on the welfare of the former Members of Parliament who spent long hours in the National Assembly debating policies and making laws for the good government of Guyana.
The clerk visited former Member of Parliament Harripersaud Nokta, who served for 40 years and nine months; former Member of Parliament and Leader of the Opposition Robert Corbin, 35 years, six months and three days; Former Member of Parliament, Minister of Regional Development and Minister of Home Affairs Jeffrey Thomas, CCH, who served 23 years, seven months and 11 days and Former Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary, Philomena Sahoye-Shury who served 14 years, seven months and 28 days.
