A man was on Tuesday granted bail in the sum of ,000 when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a charge of simple larceny.
Sharif Basheer appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman, where he pleaded guilty to stealing clothing and a pair of footwear.
It was alleged that on July 9 in Alberttown, Georgetown, Basheer stole clothing and footwear belonging to an employee of an auto spare parts store.
Basheer explained to the court that he found the clothing and the footwear in a garbage receptacle, after which he opted to dress in the attire.
Magistrate Latchman told the accused she will enter a not guilty plea for him, since he is claiming abandonment.
The prosecution’s case contended that the accused stole the clothing and footwear from an auto spare parts store and was seen wearing the items days after.
