The 28-year-old man accused of shooting his ex-partner, Vasanti Gordon, a popular makeup artist, multiple times in Islington, East Bank Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), has surrendered to the police.
Police said the suspect, Damon Morgan of Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, East Canje, turned himself in at the Central Police Station on Monday. He remains in custody pending charges.

It was reported that the 27-year-old beauty technician was allegedly shot and beaten by her former lover earlier in the month while she was parked in front of her Islington, Greater New Amsterdam, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) home.
She was reportedly attacked at about 16:50h when the suspect approached the vehicle armed with a handgun and discharged several rounds in the woman’s direction. According to reports, she was shot several times, including in her right leg and thigh.
After committing the act, he made good his escape. Reports indicate that the victim and the suspect were previously in a relationship but had recently separated. During the investigation, a spent shell was recovered from Gordon’s motorcar and has since been processed.
Morgan remains in police custody as investigations continue into the shooting. Gordon was previously listed as stable following the incident. Up to press time, efforts to contact the woman’s relatives proved futile.
