Cocaine, ganja, cash seized in Police raids

Police in Regional Division 4C are investigating the discovery of cocaine and cannabis during separate operations conducted on the East Coast of Demerara on Tuesday.

The cocaine found at Enmore, ECD

In the first operation, Police conducted a search at the home of a 34-year-old unemployed man in Newtown, Enmore. During the search, ranks discovered several whitish rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine in the washroom area of the residence.
A further search led to the discovery of a quantity of cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics.
The 34-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, both of the same address, were arrested and taken to the Cove and John Police Station along with the suspected cocaine and cash.
Police said the suspected cocaine was counted and amounted to 26 pieces. The substance was weighed in the presence of the suspects and was found to be 10 grams before being lodged as evidence.
Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation at Britton Street, Plaisance, Police discovered a quantity of suspected cannabis.
According to investigators, ranks searched the area and found a black plastic bag containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis among vegetation on the northern parapet.
The cannabis was taken to the Sparendaam Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 86g before being lodged.
No arrests have been made in connection with that discovery, but investigations are ongoing.
