Cocaine, ganja unearthed during Police raids

Police unearthed a quantity of cocaine and ganja during two separate raids at Norton Street, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara and Rosehall Town, Corentyne, Berbice.
In the first instance, reports are Police ranks conducted a search on the home of a 54-year-old businessman of Sharpal Street, Rosehall Town, Corentyne, Berbice, on Thursday, where 174 pieces of white rock-like substances, suspected to be cocaine, along with one digital scale and $1350, were found on a table in his house.

The man was arrested and taken to Central Police Station where the cocaine was weighed and amounted to 116 grams. He is presently in custody pending charges.
Also, on Thursday, Police while on mobile patrol on Norton Street, Bagotstown, observed a man in dark clothing with a black plastic bag in his hands.
Upon noticing the Police patrol, the man began running, heading through a yard on the eastern side of Norton Street.
Ranks gave chase but the man dropped the plastic bag and made good his escape.
It was later picked up and searched and 28 small transparent zip lock bags with leaves seed and stems suspected to be cannabis, along with a small quantity of empty zip lock bags and a scale were found. The ganja was later weighed and amounted to 83.8 grams.
A week ago, a Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD) businessman was arrested following the discovery of over two kilograms of marijuana in his home.
Based on reports received, a team of Police ranks, acting on information, went to the home of the 65-year-old businessman of Middle Walk, Buxton, ECD, and conducted a search.
During the search, a large transparent zip lock bag containing a quantity of cannabis was found in his possession.
Police then conducted a search on the businessman’s premises where another two transparent zip lock bags were found in a drawer in the kitchen area with ganja.
In addition, Police unearthed another bag hidden in a refrigerator with the illegal substance. He was arrested and escorted to the Vigilance Police Station where the narcotic drug was weighed and amounted to 2.242 kilograms.
