Cocaine, suspected stolen items seized during Police raid
Ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Friday unearthed a quantity of cocaine and suspected stolen items during a raid at different locations on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD).
Police said the raid was done from Sparendaam to Beehive, ECD.
In the first instance, a 41-year-old resident of Good Hope was arrested, after a transparent plastic containing 27 parcels of a rock-like substance, suspected to be cocaine, was found in a bedroom which he was in at the time.
At the time, Police were conducting the raid looking for ammunition, firearms, stolen articles, and narcotics.
In addition, at Spliff Street, Buxton Middle Walk, ECD, Police also discovered a number of tobacco leaves and 19 zip lock bags of cannabis amounting to 48 grams.
At Logwood, ECD, cops found a flat-screen television, music set, DVD player, tablet, and a cell phone in the possession of a 32-year-old resident. The law enforcement officers said they are waiting on him to produce the necessary documents to prove legal acquisition.
During the raid, a total of 17 persons were also searched.
A 47-year-old man was arrested during that raid after he was found with 27 parcels of cocaine. He was told of the offence before being taken to Vigilance Police Station. The items were weighed in his presence, and amounted to 4 grams. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
