Colts, Trojans, Ravens notch victories

Action in the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association’s U-23 Tournament continued on Saturday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) with Colts, University of Guyana Trojans and Ravens recording victories.
In the first game, Colts humbled the Knights by winning the game 103-55. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 34-14; while the second quarter ended with the score at 71-28, as the Knights failed to mount a real challenge.

However, in the third quarter, the Knights suddenly came alive, and restricted the Colts from scoring freely, to go into the final quarter with the score at 87-45. The end result, though, was never in doubt, as the Colts dominated the final quarter to end the game 103-55.
The UG Trojans recovered from their loss against the Eagles on Thursday night to beat the Kobras by a sizable margin of 101-63.
A dominant first half ended with the score at 51-33 in favour of the Trojans, and an improved second half ensured the Trojans notched up a well-deserved victory.
In the final game of the night, Ravens pulled off an upset by defeating the Pepsi Sonics in a close encounter.
At the end of the first quarter, the score was 13-14, with the Ravens leading by one point. In the second quarter, Pepsi Sonics fought back, and were leading 30-29 going into the break.
The Ravens composed themselves and played aggressively to end the third quarter leading by a slender margin of 42-40.
The game got feisty in the final quarter, as the Ravens defended well, allowing the Pepsi Sonics to score only three points while they scored freely to end the game with the score at 62-43.
The league will continue on Wednesday with games beginning from 6:00pm at the Burnham Court.
