Competition will be fierce for Guyana Cup – Pierce

Master Z and Jumbo Jet trainer Robert Pierce is confident about the top trio from his stables ahead of the Guyana Cup.
Dataman and Anthem King are the favourite horses for many fans, but Stat reminded everyone how good he is at the CARICOM Cup, defeating Dataman and Olympic Kremlin.
The Barbadian, Pierce, signalled his warning early about Stat, and he delivered, but come August 23 at the Guyana Cup, the competition will be on a different level.
“They have to watch Stat. Anthem King and Dataman are going very well. They are doing exceptionally well, and they are all special in their own right.”
“Dataman is preparing very well going into the Guyana Cup. I am pleased with how he is riding. The competition in Guyana Cup will be more competitive for Dataman, but the other horses have to come good,” Pierce said.
They will have their horses and new jockeys under Guyana’s recently enacted horse racing legislation.
A total of 14 races will be running at this year’s Guyana Cup, and more than GY$66 million in cash and prizes will be paid out.
The feature race, which will be the Banks Guyana Cup, will fetch a purse of GY$22 million. Logistical plans are already in place for a plethora of new horses and jockeys to showcase their skills at Guyana Cup.
