CONCACAF Men’s U-20 Championship Qualifiers: Guyana confident heading into US Virgin Islands clash today

Guyana and Cayman Islands played to a draw in their Group D contest that ended 0-0 in the 2022 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship Qualifiers on Saturday, Guyana playing the final 32 minutes with 10 men due to a red card for Yohance Douglas.
The stars on the day were the two goalkeepers in action, as Guyana’s Ronaldo Blair and his Cayman Islands counterpart Leandre Mckay each made a number of big saves to secure a point for their side.
Sitting atop Group D at present are Nicaragua following their 7-0 triumph over US Virgin Islands. Keylon Batiz (7’, 25’) and Jareck Caceres (27’, 80’) each had a brace, while Widman Talavera (33’), Manuel Gutierrez (36’) and Darwin Corrales (84’) chipped in with one each.

Team Guyana are confident heading into today’s fixture

Group A and Group B return to the field of play on Sunday, with Dominica taking on Grenada and Curaçao meeting Sint Maarten in Group A, while in Group B Belize will face Saint Lucia and host nation Dominican Republic will tangle with Saint Martin.
After the match, Guyana’s goalkeeper said: “Today was a hard-fought draw for the team. Everyone fight to the end, and we are looking to go forward with better tactics, and hopefully, we come out with victory in the next two games.”
