Construction worker arraigned for murder of stepson

Twenty-seven-year-old Shawn Bobb, a construction worker of Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, Georgetown, has been charged with murdering his stepson Isaiah Edwards, 19, by stabbing him to death between January 26 and 27, 2022.
Unrepresented by legal counsel, Bobb was on Thursday arraigned before Georgetown Magistrate Clive Nurse, and was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him. He has been remanded to prison until February 11.
Edwards was stabbed to his right hip allegedly by his stepfather Bobb. After the stabbing, Edwards had tested positive for COVID-19, and died the next day at the Infectious Diseases Hospital at Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown. Edwards’s mother was also injured during the ordeal, and was hospitalised.
On the night of the incident, Bobb began abusing Edwards’s mother because she had not finished cooking. Police said the man then picked up a knife and began to attack the woman. Edwards intervened, and was stabbed by his stepfather, who later fled the scene.
Both the teen and his mother were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). While there, Edwards tested positive for the virus and was transferred to the Liliendaal facility, where he remained until his demise.
Following the incident, the Police had issued a wanted bulletin for Bobb. Police ranks, acting on information last Saturday, went to a house at Helena Number One, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and found Bobb disguised as a woman.
When Police arrived at the home, the murder accused was seen jumping through a glass window fully dressed as a female — complete with make-up and a wig on his head. He was pursued, arrested, and later taken to the GPH for treatment.
