A 27-year-old construction worker of Third Street Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was on Wednesday taken into custody after he was found in possession of 10.63 grams of cocaine and 31.71 grams of ganja.

The Police have said that on the day in question, at about 20:20h, a party of Police ranks from Regional Division 4C were on patrol in the area when they observed the construction worker acting in a suspicious manner. As such, a search was conducted on his person, during which they found one transparent Ziplock bag containing the ganja and another bag containing a white rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.
The man was arrested and taken to the Beterverwagting Police Station, where the illicit substances were weighed in his present. He remains in custody pending charges.
