Contractor shot during robbery on Conversation Tree

Police in Regional Division 4A are investigating an armed robbery during which a 33-year-old contractor was shot in the left thigh on Monday.
The incident occurred at about 11:00h on Conversation Tree Road, Bel Air, Georgetown.
According to Police, the contractor was seated in the front passenger seat of a motor bus which had stopped at a traffic light when two men approached on a black and red motorcycle.
Police said the pillion rider dismounted, drew a handgun and demanded the victim’s grey haversack, valued at approximately $5000, which contained personal documents.
The victim reportedly refused to hand over the bag, prompting the suspect to allegedly discharge a round that struck him in his left thigh.
The suspect then snatched the haversack and re-joined the motorcycle rider before both men escaped south along Conversation Tree Road.
The injured contractor was taken to a private medical facility for treatment. His condition was listed as stable.
Detectives who processed the scene recovered a spent warhead from the front passenger seat of the bus. The motorcycle allegedly used in the robbery was subsequently found abandoned.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
