At around 08:20h on Friday, acting on information received, several ranks of the Bartica Police Station went to the Bartica Stelling where an inbound passenger speedboat was in the process of being moored.
Police said that 10 passengers disembarked the vessel and were instructed to hold their respective properties after which they were escorted to the Bartica Police Station.
A search was conducted on the passengers, including a 36-year-old female cook of Yarrowkabra Village, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
In her travelling bag, detectives said they found a compressed bulky plastic parcel containing a quantity of cannabis. She was told of the suspicion and cautioned after which she denied ownership of the ganja claiming that she was taking the bag for a friend.
The said narcotic was weighed in her presence and amounted to 353 grams. She remains in custody pending charges.
