Cop charged with rape of 15-year-old

A member of the Guyana Police Force was on Thursday released on $250,000 bail after he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Senior Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for the rape of a 15-year-old girl.
Mark Otto, 23, is accused of engaging in sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16 during the month of May 2017.
The Police Constable was not required to plead to the indictable charge after it was read to him.
The matter was reported by the young woman’s mother after she found out that the two were involved in a relationship. The matter was adjourned to April 4, 2018 when Otto is scheduled to make his next court appearance.
