Cop collapses, dies after complaining of feeling unwell

The wife of a 44-year-old Police Lance Corporal was left in shock after she found her husband dead moments after he complained of not being able to breathe.
Dead is Albert Perreira. The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 05:30h at Reid Street, Sheet Anchor, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Reports are that Perreira’s wife was awakened by her husband who was lying on the floor in the hall of their home.

Upon checking, the woman found her husband having difficulty breathing. As a result, she went for a glass of water to give to him, and when she returned, she observed that he was motionless.
The woman immediately contacted the New Amsterdam Hospital for an ambulance but was unsuccessful. She then contacted the Police, who visited the home and observed the man lying in the hall motionlessly.
The body was checked for marks of violence but none was seen. Officer Perreira was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor of the New Amsterdam Hospital.
The body is presently at the Persaud Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, in a statement later on Tuesday, the Police Force said they are saddened by the news of the sudden passing of Lance Corporal Perreira.
“Lance Corporal 23744 Albert Perreira of Reid’s Street, Sheet Anchor, Canje, Berbice joined the Force on 15-03-2008 and was stationed at the Springlands Police Station. He was a dedicated rank and committed to his job”.
“The Commissioner of Police, Officers, Inspectors and other ranks express sincere condolences and joins in mourning with the family of Lance Corporal Perreira”, the statement read. (G9)
