In his most recent visit to Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) Local Government and Regional Development Minister, Nigel Dharamlall warned of constant sub-standard work coming from contractors.

During the meeting with members of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Township and Local Democratic Organs (LDOs), he highlighted several developmental plans and as such, new stipulations must be followed by the contractors.
Minister Dharamlall stated that the RDCs are an extension of the Government and they actually sign the contracts to give contractors, adding that he hopes that the contractors and RDC can work together hand in hand.
“There are multiple complaints about the standards contractors operate with and moving forward things will change as everything will be monitored and accounted for.”
Infrastructural developmental plans will begin shortly and he urged both the contractors and RDC to adhere to the deadlines outlined for each project and work as a team.
Dharamlall also emphasised that each contractor should be able to employ persons from the area so as to have a constant cash flow within communities.
