Cop shoots colleague during row over missing slippers
A dispute over a missing pair of slippers left a policeman nursing a gunshot wound to his leg and his colleague who shot him under close arrest.
Injured is Constable David Lampkin, who was stationed at the Brickdam Police Station.
Reports are Constable Lampkin was shot to his leg at about 05:00h on Sunday. Police in a statement said that the duo was on duty at the Brickdam Police Station when the argument ensued early Sunday morning over a missing pair of slippers.
Following the incident, Constable Lampkin was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital and is receiving treatment for the gunshot wound to his right leg.
His colleague remains in custody assisting with the investigation.
Some years ago, a similar incident occurred when a Police Constable who was attached to the Anti-Crime Unit of the Brickdam Police Station was shot once to his upper right arm by his colleague during the pursuit of an alleged robbery suspect. (G9)
