A 54-year-old man was arrested by Police on Monday at Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) after he was found with an illegal gun and matching ammunition in his possession.

Reports are that acting on information received, ranks in the division went to the home of the suspect at approximately 18:40h and conducted a search. During the search, a one 12-guge shotgun and six matching bullets were found in the lower flat of the building hidden in a black tire tube between several pieces of clothing.
Further searches were made and a plastic bag containing the six shotgun cartridges were found, Police said.
The suspect was told of the offences committed, cautioned, and arrested while the firearm and ammunition were lodged at the Springlands Police Station. (G9)
