Vendor robbed by lone knife-wielding bandit

A vendor who usually plies her trade at the Plaisance Market, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was robbed of a quantity of cash by an armed bandit.
The 32-year-old woman was robbed of $35,000 about 11:20h on Sunday.
According to reports, the vendor was walking and selling in the market when she was approached by the lone bandit.
She told Police that as she was in the process of selling a customer, she was confronted by the suspect who was wearing a black face mask, black shirt, and short pants.
The vendor said that the bandit approached her from behind, placed a knife to her left side, pushed his hand into her pocket and took out the $35,000. He then made good his escape.
An investigation has been launched.
Only a day ago, Police reported an incident whereby a 15-year-old boy of Phase Two Area A, Good Hope, ECD, was relieved of one blue Samsung Galaxy cell phone and $7000 by four males.
The teen reportedly put up a fight , but two of the suspects dealt him several punches about his body, and he reportedly ran from the scene. The matter was subsequently reported to the Police.
Two of the suspects were arrested and remain in custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.
