Cosmetics thief remanded to prison

A man accused of stealing from a cosmetics stall was on Thursday remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Anari Dookie, 39, of Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged with break and enter.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that between October 3 and 4, 2016, he broke and entered a cosmetics stall belonging to Shondell Stilly and stole products worth some $360,000.
He was also charged with escaping from police custody on October 7.
According to the prosecution, the defendant was caught and taken to the Albouystown Police Station on the larceny charge.
However, while in confinement, he managed to escape the custody of the Police.
Bail was objected to by the prosecutor who stated that the defendant gave contradicting addresses.
He will return to court on November 27, 2016.
