A 25-year-old female and a 37-year-old male of Martyrs’ Ville, East Coast Demerara, are in Police custody after they were caught with 1012 grams of cannabis.

According to Police, at about 17:30h, ranks from Beterverwagting Station District acting on information received carried out a search on the suspects, one of which was in possession of a black haversack which contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
A search was also conducted on the second suspect but nothing of evidential value was found on his person.
In their presence, the ranks then searched the suspects’ yard and found two black plastic bags which contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
They were both told of the offence committed, cautioned and arrested.
The Police officers escorted the suspects to the Beterverwagting Police Station where the suspected cannabis was weighed. They remain in custody pending charges.
