A labourer and his wife were arrested after they were caught with a quantity of cannabis in their home at Ankerville, Corentyne, Berbice, on Friday.
Reports are at approximately 05:15h, Police ranks acting on information received went to the couple’s Ankerville, Corentyne, Berbice home and conducted a search for narcotics. According to Police, during a search of one of the bedrooms, a bulky parcel along with 174 small Ziplock bags were found containing suspected cannabis that amounted to 230 grams were discovered.
The occupants of the home were detained. They are being processed for court.
Less than three days ago, two men – a miner and an East Bank Demerara (EBD) man were nabbed by Police ranks with cannabis on separate occasions.
A 36-year-old Craig, East Bank Demerara (EBD) man was on Wednesday nabbed with over 1700 grams of cannabis by Police at Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara.
According to Police, during a routine stop-and-search operation in front of the Sparendaam Police Station, the man’s car was stopped and searched and the parcel was discovered.
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old miner of Lot 22 Den Amstel Public Road, West Coast Demerara, was on Tuesday morning nabbed with more than two kilograms of ganja concealed in the shells of dried coconuts.
The arrest was made by Police at Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), as the suspect disembarked a boat at the ferry stelling.
