Couple on bail for assault

A couple were arraigned in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday for physically assaulting a young man.
The charge stated that on October 10, 2017 at Queen Street, Tiger Bay, Georgetown, Adi Dubay, 34, and Napula Baptiste, 31, both of B Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, assaulted Anthony Bartholomew causing him grievous bodily harm.
They both pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Dubay later begged Magistrate Fababyo Azore to issue a warning to Bartholomew, claiming that the young man hurled insults at him while they were entering the court. In a bid to defend himself, Bartholomew explained that Dubay taunted him as he passed into the court, which resulted in his reply.
Dubay was placed on $75,000 bail while Baptiste’s bail was put at $100,000. They are expected to return to court on March 28, 2018.
