The 23rd annual Courts 50-mile road race will pedal off on Sunday, February 23 in the Ancient County of Berbice from 09:00h.
The race will commence from the Courts branch in New Amsterdam and will proceed to Nand Persaud, Number 36 Village and return for the finish at the point of origin.
Cyclists from across Guyana will be allowed to battle for supremacy and the first eight open cyclists will be awarded prizes, the first three juniors/juveniles and the first three veterans. Additionally, eight sprint prizes will be up for grabs as the top wheelsmen gear up to transform the Berbice roadways into their playfield.
This race is organised by Flying Ace Cycling Coach Randolph Roberts, and Courts has been on board for the past 22 years. An assistant manager of the furniture giant will start the race, which promises to be a cracking event. This cycling race will mark the second of its kind in as many weeks in the Ancient County. As cycling continues to break new barriers, the best of the best will come head to head.
Romello Crawford, who has made his return from overseas and recorded two wins in as many events, is expected to dominate. With the likes of Jamual John, Michael Anthony, Briton John, Christopher Griffith and other cyclists from outside of Berbice being welcomed, the race is expected to be one for the ages. Balram Narine, Ajay Goopilal, and Ralph Seenarine among others are expected to battle for supremacy.
