Courts Optical Pee Wee: Marian, St Pius, West Ruimveldt light up Round of 16

It was another day of exciting showdowns at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Ground, Carifesta Avenue on Saturday, as eight schools secured their spots in the Courts Optical Pee Wee Under-11 quarterfinals.
Defending champions Enterprise Primary, Redeemer, Potaro, St Stephen’s, Marian Academy, West Ruimveldt and St Pius Primary were among the victors on Saturday and the Courts Optical Pee Wee Under-11 tournament is heading into the nervy knockout stages.
Marian Academy were probably the most impressive on the day, securing a 10-0 victory over Colaaco Primary. Rhys George led the onslaught for Marian with six goals in the 12th, 14th, 18th, 25th, 26th and 33 minutes. Maxwell Viapree (3rd, 16th) had a double while Shad Waldrond (29th) and Joshua Johnson (39th) netted one each.

Also winning in commanding fashion were StPius Primary who defeated Friendship Primary 5-0. Aaron Vasconcellos scored a double in the 25th and 38th minutes, while Octain Moore (28th), Daniel Chesney (33rd) and Ezekiel Lewis (35th) scored one each.
On the back of a David DeCosta hat-trick in the 5th, 28th and 38th, Redeemer Primary enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Kabakaburi Primary. Jonathon Ollivierre brought Redeemer’s tally to four in the 24th and Jamie Thomas netted Kabakaburi’s consolation in the eighth minute.
Potaro Primary eased past North Georgetown Primary 2-1. One goal each from Ezekiel Haynes (10th) and Mark Timmerman (13th) accounted for Potaro’s two, while Vandell Edinboro (17th) netted North Georgetown’s lone goal.
Another close encounter saw St Stephen’s Primary edging St John the Baptist’s 1-0. Kareem Milton was the lone goal scorer in the 37 minute.
Meanwhile, Den Amstel eased past FE Pollard 2-0. Kaden Trotman was the lone marksman in the 10th and 18th minutes.
Another team effort from West Ruimveldt Primary ensured a 4-0 win over Tucville. Teon Francis (3rd), Deshawn Thomas (5th), Eli Bryant (25th) and Dane Vancooten (37th) scored one goal each for West Ruimveldt.
In the final game of the day, it was a win by the slimmest of margins for the defending champions, Enterprise, as they needled St Gabriel’s 1-0. Dontay Kowlessar was the lone goal scorer, finding the back of the net early in the third minute.
The Pee Wee quarterfinal action is expected to go down this Saturday at the same venue. Aside from Courts Optical as the title sponsor, the Under-11 tournament is also supported by Sterling Products, with support from the Ministry of Education.
